Dale Pousson, a well-known painter from the rice-growing community of Egan in Southwest Louisiana, is largely a self taught artist with no formal art training. He is a recently retired rice and soybean farmer who was initially attracted to wildlife art from observing nature about him as he worked the fields. Ducks and geese are frequent winter residents on the land that he and his family have farmed for generations. Dale's painting was chosen for the 2003-2004 Louisiana Waterfowl Conservation Stamp. The Winning image depicts a pair of Redheads in a Louisiana marsh. The Redhead is a common duck found primarily along Louisiana's coast.
